A Letter from Soph,

Through my years of falling in love with this industry, my hunger to create with intention has only grown stronger. I believe there’s beauty in every moment—big or small—and I’m passionate about capturing the worth of those moments for people.

A Bit of Backstory!

I was born and raised in Whangārei!Being a small-town girl with big ideas, it wasn’t always easy to creatively thrive up north.

My passion for photography started in high school, so much so that I founded the Whangārei Girls' High School Photography Club—year 9 nerd for sure!—with the sole purpose of bringing creatives together. I expected maybe 20 people to sign up… but we ended up with 230 girls in the club!

Turns out, I wasn’t the only one with a passion for creating. Little did I know, that experience would ignite my drive to make things happen.

After high school, I moved to Wellington—the creative city!

With more opportunities and time to explore my craft, that period was incredibly pivotal in turning my passion into what it is today.

As I eased into my degree, I did everything I could to stand out in a city full of creatives. I put up posters around Massey’s music block, offered free shoots, and showed up at every creative event I could. Despite my initial fear, I constantly posted my work on social media, hoping to gain traction. I didn’t see photography as something that could be full-time—but I refused to stop dreaming that it could be.

And then… everything took off!

Fast Forward to TodayI’m now working as a Media Marketing Coordinator at Social Project, creating and producing content while also freelancing on the side. I’m incredibly grateful that my work allows me to travel across New Zealand, shooting everything from shows and events to weddings and video projects.

To you—the one who took the time to read this—I appreciate you.

With love,

Soph
